Li Ning, a Beijing-based sportswear and equipment company is set to release a clothing line featuring images of the Bored Ape Yacht Club #4102 after the company actually bought the specific NFT and accordingly obtained all derivative open rights. According to an official announcement made on Weibo, also known as China’s Twitter, the company will be releasing a clothing series of T-shirts and caps with prints of the BAYC image #4102. The pop-up store which is currently live is reportedly a Sandbox-like metaverse. The company is also planning to build a metaverse venue in Sanlitun, Beijing, restoring a metaverse venue in the real world, and use the boring ape as the leader of Li Ning in China. In the first quarter of this year, the sportswear brand has recorded nearly a whopping 30% year-on-year increase in retail sales, according to a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange last week.
