SCMP Will Soon Turn Archival Collectible into Tradeable NFTs

Earlier today, the Hong Kong newspaper, South China Morning Post (SCMP) announced a spin-off of an independent venture of turning 118-year-old archival collectibles like art, photographs, letters, and much more into the tradeable non-fungible tokens. First Batch of 118-Year-Old NFTs The blockchain venture headed by SCMP, Artifact Labs will be led by the CEO of SCMP, Gary Liu. The first batch of the NFTs feature over 1000 mystery boxes from the year 1997, a very important year in the history of Hong Kong. This batch was sold within two hours. The second batch of collectibles will be released next month. Chairman of SCMP, Joe Tsai stated, “With his experience running a news organization and expertise in technology, Gary is the perfect person to lead our new effort in Web3 and explore future opportunities of growth for South China Morning Post.” Adding a few words about the blockchain venture, Gary Liu stated that as Artifact Labs is an independent entity, it can turn properties like museums and schools into digital collectibles as well. He also added about how he believes that blockchain has great potential in the media industry.
