The government of Finland is planning to donate seized Bitcoin (BTC) from various criminal investigations to support Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia. The bitcoins (BTC) in question had been seized by the country’s customs during its investigations into drug trafficking. Finland Plans to Donate Seized Bitcoins to Ukraine According to local media outlet Helsingin Sanomat, the Finnish Government is donating proceeds from the seized bitcoins (BTC) to Ukraine. The exact amount of Bitcoin (BTC) has not been determined but could be potentially upto 73 million euros or $77 million at current prices. Reportedly, the country began researching Bitcoin (BTC) to help Ukraine in early March and has also considered donating the 1,981 bitcoins seized by its customs authorities directly to Ukraine. Crypto donations have become a popular and efficient way to donate money to Ukraine’s war effort against Russia. Ukraine Has Received Over $100M in Crypto Donations Finland had been consistently offering aid to Ukraine. In February 2022, when the Ukraine-Russia war first broke out, the country sent nearly 14.7 million additional aid to Ukraine, including humanitarian aid and development cooperation funds.
